War on Melkor Unchained
The rumblings began after a recent Melkor 'spree', in which he destroyed several small nations for no apparent reason other than his own gratification. Pantera, Ur an ass, and The Sean Empire to name a few began to gather their forces and collect allies. Within a week they had all planned assaults and the attack against Melkor was swift and decisive. Unfortunately, due to the massive numbers of pro and anti Melkor nations that involved themselves and the antics of the dreaded nOObs, coupled with the notable lack of coordination between the groups of allies caused the entire conflict thus far to be ignored.
All was not lost for the Melkor haters however, as they began massing a more select force of good RPers and older nations. Melkor followed the same pattern, and now an invite-only battle seems imminent. There are still a large number of nations involved, but these nations all have good roleplaying reputations and are being led by a select few nations, creating a power structure rarely seen in today's conflicts.
The name Melkor provokes a multitude of reactions depending on who you mention it to. Admiration, hate, and fear are just a few of the more popular feelings. The nation of Melkor Unchained provides technology and protection to some nations even as it crushes others with an iron fist. It's tendency to stir up trouble is notable; the nation goes on 'sprees', destroying one or more nations, then withdrawing for a while and letting things settle down before initiating a new wave of attacks. Melkor Unchained has faced opposition for his actions before, and triumphed. Could new wave of opposition and a massive invasion force finally bring the controversial giant down?
While it is still to be seen whether this newly designed battle will take place, and we all know only too well how the best RP plans can go horribly awry, the prospects look good for a highly interesting and well-RPed thread.## Zeke Zabertini (Xanthal) is a Reporter for the International Free Press.
